The Rolex Sea-Dweller Ref. 1665 “Double Red” is one of the most important vintage Rolex professional dive watches, developed during the late 1960s for saturation diving and distinguished by its exceptional depth capability and helium escape valve.

Dating to 1968, this particular example is especially desirable due to its early thin case, with its 1.75 million serial placing it within the range associated with the earliest thin-case Double Red Sea-Dwellers. These cases were closely related to the Submariner profile and preceded the thicker Sea-Dweller case used on later examples.

The matte dial features the famous two lines of red text that give the watch its “Double Red” nickname. This distinctive dial configuration has become one of the most recognisable and sought-after designs in vintage Rolex collecting.

Housed in a 40mm stainless steel Oyster case, the 1665 features Rolex’s helium escape valve, a high-domed plexiglass crystal without Cyclops magnification and an original depth rating of 2,000ft / 610m.
